Be assured that Stamford’s educational system proudly rivals any in the state. In fact, Stamford’s school system has been recognized as one of ten school districts across the country to be named, a model of ‘exemplary education reform’ by the National Commission on Teaching and America's Future.
Stamford can also be considered a leader in Connecticut’s education initiatives, as it was the first in the State of Connecticut to implement a School Readiness Program. This program is a customized pre-kindergarten education, which has been used as a model for the rest of the nation by the former U.S. Secretary of Education, Richard Riley.
Stamford’s public school system consists of approximately 15,000 students and the public school district consists of 20 schools.
These are:
Twelve elementary (grades K-12);
Five middle schools (grades 6-8);
Three high schools (grades 9-12)
The Stamford Public Schools adhere to the same curricula in the state and national standards. Overall, 89% of college-bound Stamford Public Schools graduates are accepted to Most Competitive, Highly Competitive, or Very Competitive colleges. The high school curiculum includes Honors courses as well as 13 Advanced Placement courses in English Literature and Composition, Calculus, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, U.S. History, European History, French, Spanish, Music Theory, Studio Art, and Art History. See below for some of Stamford’s Honors and Awards that were given to student’s great accomplishments.
Stamford has many programs and extracurricular activities including enrichment programs and clubs, offered at the elementary, middle and high schools. Sports are available through varsity, junior varsity and

Bus transportation is provided for elementary students living one mile or more from school; for middle school students living one-and-a-half miles from school; and for high school students living two miles or more from school.

First Time Buyers >The Buyer Interview
The first step toward matching you with the perfect home usually involves an in-depth interview with the real estate agent who will help you establish a price range and determine the features that you need in a home.
The agent will ask a lot of questions, and many of them will seem very personal. What is your income and debt situation? Where do you work? Are schools an important factor? Do you have children or pets? Do you have hobbies that will create special needs?
The more information your real estate agent has, the easier it will be to eliminate the homes that will not work for you and show you the ones in your price range that should fit your needs. A good agent can be a tremendous resource in this process, providing you with information about the homes that are available, shopping facilities, community services, and public transportation. The best real estate agents are excellent listeners and counselors.
